Will the link
to the links page count against my 3 banner ads for linklists? |
|
No, at least not usually. The three ad rule is
three links outside your site. Your links page is part of your site
and actually gives you one more page to put three more ads on. |
|
Do linklists reject sites for
participating in this? |
|
There is no reason why they should although we cannot
vouch for all of them and their different rules. Webmasters have
always traded links with other webmasters and as long as your content is
still easy to get to and no ads are blind then they should have no problems
with it. |
|
Why would I want to give surfers more free
sites to look at? If they see too much content they wont buy. |
|
This is true so you really must make sure you take every
opportunity to sell them something before they get to the links page.
I would highly suggest making sure the links page link is very much the last
thing that is seen on the main page so its something they will click if they
don't like your pics or don't buy your sponsor, but only after they have
seen everything you have to offer them. Once they are in the network
they may get to one of your sites and buy something so the more sticky we
make it the more chances for everyone to make a sale |
|
Should I put the php call on a mirrored
index page? |
|
No. The idea here is get as many folks into the
network of participating sites as possible. You should get first crack
at selling your surfers something but if they don't buy something why not
put them into this network so that they get to another webmasters site or
even another one of yours? If you put it on an index page then they
may click out of your site as soon as they get to it and you wont get the
benefit of the first crack at selling them. It works much better if
the links page is something surfers see after they have seen all your ads
and content as one last attempt to make use of them.
Here is a flowchart of a typical free site in the system
to help explain the concept. |
|
Why a links page? Why not put the php
calls on the main page or a gallery? |
|
Some linklists count out links from your main/gallery
pages as ads which count against your 3 per page maximum. By using a
links page linklist owners know that it is for link trades with other
webmasters and you should still be able to have three ads on your main page
in addition to the links to your gallery and your links pages. In
addition a links page can be linked to on your main page which all your
mirror pages send traffic to thus giving the maximum exposure to the system
of link trades. Here is a flowchart of a typical
free site in the system to help explain the concept. |
|
Can I make one links page per domain or
does it have to be per site? |
|
Its better to have a links page per site you build and
submit into the system because it gives you one more page to get search
engine listings with. Also linklists will be less likely to reject the
site if the links page is in the same folder as the rest of the site - if
its on the root domain then some count that as an out click against your
three ads per page. We highly suggest making one links page per site. |
|
How is this different than a web ring? |
|
Its actually very similar, but instead of "next/previous"
links we list a random set of similar niched sites directly on a page
after you show them what you have to offer. A webring usually
insists that the "next/previous" links be on the page which are in the
rotation, this doesn't. We want the links on your and other webmasters
links pages to be linked to index pages so the surfer goes through the whole
site before getting back to the "ring". Here is a
flowchart of how the traffic can move
throughout the system |
|
Do I have to make a new index page for
listing devoid of recips to other linklists? |
|
Preferably yes, but its not mandatory. Recips are
traffic leaks and we want as few of those in this network as possible,
however we don't want to make this an overly taxing system to use so its not
required. |
|
Can I format the links page however I want
to? |
|
Absolutely, the php calls only put the links and text on
your site so its totally seamless. You can set the fonts, colors,
backgrounds, css and anything else you want. You can even put the php
calls in a table and put ads above, beside, and below it if you like or add
extra links above or below it to your other sites so it looks like part of
the list, there really aren't any rules. |
|
Why is my site not showing up right after
I got the email saying it was included? |
|
Our management system uses a caching mechanism to reduce
server load. The caches get flushed hourly and refreshed then. It also
rotates all the links on an hourly basis so yours might or might not show up
in that rotation, be assured tho it will get exposure and lots of it. |
|
What is all that javascript below the php
calls? |
|
That is a third party, completely invisible, stats
program to let everyone know what kind of traffic is flowing through the
system. If you want to view the stats
|
Why are there sites that aren't the same
niche in the list of links on my site? |
|
We want to make sure we don't just give the surfer more
of the exact same niche to get off on, so there are other similar niches
thrown in as well as a couple totally different niche links too for
filtering purposes. This will ensure that the traffic doesn't get
incestuous as well, no reason to put surfers into a loop that only shows
them the same few sites for an hour. |
|
What is the ratio of traffic sent as
opposed to traffic received? |
|
There isn't one, this is a permanent link trade with no
expectations of actual traffic flow one way or the other. This is not
a traffic trade, its a link trade. |
|
What if someone only takes traffic and
doesn't send any in? |
|
Trading links helps us all out period even if they dont
send any traffic into the system, however we do everyone to get traffic to
their site in the normal ways. If anyone is leaching traffic and not
sending any of their own they will found and will be dealt with at the time.
We have also included an invisible stats program into the codes so you can
view the traffic
going through the system at any time |
